IPL 2021: Are Power Hitters the Key this Season?

242

IPL teams would be looking to use their power hitters at their best this season and salvage the best results. The Indian Premier League is known for its adrenaline and the rage that comes from the powerful batsmen. This year would be no different and the best hitter would be crowned with the IPL best batsmen. With the teams having several destructive batsmen, here we look at the IPL 2021 all team squad power-players and rank them based on their quality.

Chennai Super Kings

The three-time IPL winners have fumbled last season and have lost the quality of power-hitting over the years. Their captain MS Dhoni is a world-class finisher along with Vice-captain Suresh Raina. Veteran striker Shane Watson left the franchise but Chennai Super Kings invested in Moeen Ali, a powerful batsman in IPL 2021 auction. Sam Curran and Faf du Plessis can also be quality shot players along with the lineup.

Delhi Capitals

A composed side last season, they have a bunch of young and powerful hitters including Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis. Their captain Shreyas Iyer can hit too at times of need and they are a potential league-winning side this season. Rishabh Pant too can be an explosive batsman providing balance down the order.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Only David Warner, their captain can be considered a genuine power-hitter. Though Sunrisers Hyderabad does not have the IPL best batsmen, they are a composed side with players like Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, and Jonny Bairstow up the order. Mitchell Marsh, Jason Holder, and Abdul Samad too are talented players but are incapable of exploding when needed.

Rajasthan Royals

The inaugural champions have a quality batting lineup with intense power-hitters like their new captain Sanju Samson, Englishmen Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, and all-rounder Rahul Tewatia down the order. Rajasthan Royals have found the perfect balance in power-hitters and controlled players to expect glory this season.

Royals Challengers Bangalore

Royals Challengers Bangalore has the best in AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli in their lineup. They bought Glenn Maxwell in the IPL 2021 auction for a whopping INR 14 crores who is reputed to be a huge match-winner and an explosive bowler alongside. They too have Mohammad Azharuddeen who showed his blazing form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season.

Punjab Kings

They have the world number 1 and 2 T20 batsmen on their side, Dawid Malan and captain KL Rahul. Universal boss Chris Gayle is reputed to be a destructive batsman alongside his Caribbean teammate Nicholas Pooran. Shahrukh Khan can be powerful batsmen too with a lot of talent within and can be exploited by Punjab Kings.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders have a packed team of power-hitters with Andre Russell, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine, and Nitish Rana. They bought T20 veteran Shakib al Hasan in the auction who can be a big hitter alongside Pat Cummins who hit Jasprit Bumrah for straight 4 sixes in a single over last IPL.

Mumbai Indians

Last year’s Indian Premier League champions, Mumbai Indians have a team full of power-hitters. They have strong players deep down the order starting from Captain Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, Keiron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and many more to name. They have been known for the massive scores they put up against their opponents and their IPL 2021 all team squad is more than capable of winning another accolade. Teams this season are more than ready to challenge for the IPL title and it would be an exciting season since it returns to India after the last season was played at the United Arab Emirates.
