India Vs Australia 4th Test Match Day 1 & 2 Highlights

Day 2 of the 4th test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 between India and Australia was called off due to the wet outfield. India scored 62 runs and lost two wickets till tea time. The Gabba at Brisbane is well known for spoiling big games because of wet outfields and cloudy weather conditions. Indian batting lineup has an underlying pressure to lower the trail runs and reverse the pressure on the Australian team.

Australia Dominated the First Innings with Aggressive Batting Line Up

Australia won the toss, and Captain Paine decided to bat first in the last test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australian opener David Warner yet again failed to deliver promising results and was bowled for 1 run. Marnus Labuschagne was the savior of the team who scored a brilliant century to put Australia in a comfortable position. Steve Smith, Tim Paine, and Mathew Wade played essential knocks to put the team in a strong position. Australia was bowled out for 369 runs in its first innings.

New Arrivals in Indian Roaster Showed Exceptional Performance

The series of injuries that senior players suffered pushed India to play the final test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 with newcomers. However, all the new players showed a decent performance. T. Natarajan, who played his first test match against Australia, took 3 important wickets for the team. Similar to T. Natarajan, Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar took 3 wickets for the team and stopped the aggressive battling line of Australia. M. Siraj, who is leading the Indian bowling attack, took the most important wicket of David Warner in the early period of the innings.

How India Will Get Back in the Game

Since the opening line up of India failed to perform, the entire roaster needs to come up with strategic decisions to reduce the trail and score runs on board. Opener Shubman Gill just scored 7 runs, whereas Rohit Sharma scored 44 runs. Australian bowler Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins took the wickets for the Australian team. Before tea time Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were on the field. To get back in the game, both Pujara and Rahane need to stay in the pitch for a long period, and score runs to decrease the pressure of trial and follow-on. Also, a long partnership between the batters will reduce the burden from other players in the lineup.

Injured Players are Affecting Team India

Many Indian players were injured in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 against Australia. The third test match was negative for team India as key players Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hanuma Vihari got injured. Since India is playing with a completely new roaster, the performance of players is completely unpredictable. However, it is expected that the Indian bowling lineup will make strategic decisions in the second innings of the test match to restrict Australia from creating a big score.
