India Vs Australia 3rd Test Match Highlights


In an epic encounter, the third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 between India and Australia was drawn. The Indian cricket team faced many hurdles and difficulties on the fourth day of the game. However, adversities couldn’t stop Indian team from putting their entire efforts and snatching away the victory from Australia. The bowling attack of Australia created pressure for India’s tail-ender. However, R. Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari conquered the pitch of SCG the entire day to draw the match and put India in a comfortable position.

Australian Opener Warner Could Not Deliver Promising Results

Australian roaster and fans had high expectations from the aggressive opening batsmen David Warner. However, Warner could not deliver promising results in both the innings. The opening batsmen just scored 5 runs and 13 runs in both the innings. Mohammed Siraj and R. Ashwin were the wicket-takers of warner in the first and second innings of the test match.

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were the Pillars of Australia’s Exceptional Batting Performance

 Australian batting line up kept constant pressure on Indian bowlers. Captain Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne performed exceptionally well with the bat. Steve Smith scored a century in the first innings, whereas on the other side Marnus Labuschagne scored brilliant 91 runs on board. Both the players kept the fire alive and played brilliant knocks in the second innings of the test match to give a whopping target of 407 to India.

Indian Bowlers Put Heart and Soul in the Entire Gameplay

Ravindra Jadeja was the hero with the bowl in the first innings on the test match. He took crucial 4 wickets and stopped the attack of Australian batters. Navdeep Saini and Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets each. Even though Navdeep Saini was costly with runs, he took important wickets in the second innings of the test match. Ravindra Jadeja was the key player for team India as the all-rounder was efficient with both bowling and fielding. R. Ashwin kept the pressure on the Australian batting order and got two crucial wickets. Mohammed Siraj was economical throughout the test match and bagged one wicket in both the innings.

Indian Batting Order Snatched Victory from Australia’s Lap

Since Australia gave a giant chase of 407 to team India, the batting lineup of the team was under pressure. Even after facing racial comments from the Australian fans, the Indian batting team maintain their calm and proceeded with the gameplay. Opening batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a decent start to team India. Captain Ajinkya Rahane struggled in the second innings of the match and just made four runs. Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara were the run firing machine for team India. Pant and Pujara scored 97 runs and 77 runs, respectively, to lower the required runs for victory. As the Australia batting line up doubled the bowing attack, R. Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari were the real heroes of the match. Both the players almost faced the entire bowling line up of Australia and played for almost three hours to draw the match. Not only this but both the players also got injured in the play by bouncers and fast deliveries by Australian bowlers. In the end, the exceptional performance by tail-enders turned out to be a nightmare for Australia. The bowling line up of Australia tested every single delivery to dismiss the tail-enders. However, R. Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari turned out to be unbreakable walls for team India. The result of the match is as close to victory for team India.
