New year celebrations for five Indian cricket players turned out to be stressful for cricket fans and authorities. The vice-captain of Indian cricket team Rohit Sharma along with Rishabh Pant, Shubham Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini, were spotted inside a restaurant which is against the bio-secure protocols set by Cricket Australia.

As per the protocols set by Cricket Australia, players are only allowed to eat in outdoor restaurant settings. Also, strict social distancing norms must be followed throughout the local travel.

BCCI Official Considers the Situation a Bad Plot

As noted by a senior BCCI official, all the Indian players were standing outside, and due to drizzle, they made their way inside. The BCCI official also marked that the Australian Cricket Board is creating a bad plot for the team before the third test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

The Entire Roaster of Indian Team has been Tested Negative

BCCI has already declared that all the players and staff of the Indian team took RT-PCR for Covid-19, and all the results turned out to be negative. Even though the test results are negative, Cricket Australia has imposed strict quarantine guidelines to ensure the safety of the entire team and management.

Many supporters of the Indian team and a senior official of the management have taken a stand against the controversy and stated that the Australian Media is unsettling the Indian team before the third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21. As India won the second test match of the series under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane, the entire roaster was fully charged up for the next test match. However, the controversy has disturbed the peace of the whole roaster.

Even though 20,000 visitors will be allowed to witness the game, the Indian cricket team will not be allowed to move unless they are playing the match or practicing. The entire team will be quarantined in hotel rooms in Sydney as strict security protocols.

Some of the higher officials from the management have raised their concern over the strict regulations imposed on the Indian cricket team. The officials have stated that the Indian team must not be confined to hotel rooms after being tested negative for Covid-19. Since cricket fans will be allowed to see the players at the stadium, the performers must be given freedom of movement for peace of mind.

Cricket Australia and BCCI have been working together to reduce the chaos and host the fourth test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 scheduled at Brisbane. It is expected that the Indian cricket team will have to follow strict protocols before the game as the Covid-19 cases have surged in the city. The situation will be clear once the security protocols for the fourth test match will be rolled out by the Australian Cricket board.
